If you're a bird lover, nature photographer, or just someone who enjoys peaceful moments in the wild, our bird watching tours in Sinharaja Rainforest are made just for you.
We begin the tour before sunrise, when the forest is quiet and the birds are most active. You can take as much time as you need—there’s no rush. This is a relaxed experience focused on observing, listening, and enjoying the many bird species that call this forest home.
You'll be guided by an experienced local birder, and if needed, we’ll include an additional guide to help you spot rare species more easily. Along the way, you’ll also learn about bird behavior, forest habitats, and how these species survive in one of Sri Lanka’s last remaining rainforests.
Photography is encouraged, so don’t forget your camera, binoculars, or any other gear you prefer to use.
A simple local breakfast will be provided during the tour, usually served in a scenic, quiet forest clearing where birds are often seen nearby.
Some of the Birds You May Spot:
- Red-faced Malkoha – A shy and rare species, found only in Sri Lanka’s wet zone.
- Srilanka Blue Magpie – Bright, bold, and beautifully colored – a highlight for any birder.
- Yellow Fronted Barbet – Often heard before it's seen, with its unique call.
- Ceylon White Eye – Small and fast-moving, often seen in flocks.
